SS Dicky

SS Dicky | | Sunshine Coast

Along the unspoiled stretch of Dicky Beach just north of Caloundra is the SS Dicky Shipwreck. The SS Dicky was shipwrecked in 1893 during a freak cyclone off the coast and is a great place for those magical photos. Due to a freak cyclone off the coast in 1893 the SS Dicky was washed ashore, there were many attempts to relaunch but all were unsuccessful. For many years after the ship first coming ashore it was used by the locals as a great dancing and gathering spot until one day a kerosene lamp was knocked and the entire ship caught on fire leaving what is there today a great location for photos and exploring.
